Europe might have gotten the N96 earlier than their friends across the Atlantic, but better late than never, I say. It is now the latter’s turn to welcome the arrival of the Nokia N96 - the designated successor to the N95 which was the flagship N Series model for some time already (available in two variants - the vanilla N95 and the 8GB model). I must admit that the Nokia N95 was a highly desirable smartphone due to the hardware capability and specifications it comes with, but one major gripe I have against it would be the form factor which was rather unwieldy. Let’s take a look at how the N96 fares this time round. |

Sony wants to take the wireless route with its latest wireless audio system known as the S-AIRPLAY. Don’t you just hate it whenever there are tangled messes of wires to contend with? Those pesky wires always get in the way whenever you try to vacuum or sweep the floor, not to mention risking tripping over them by accident at night while holding a glass of milk in your hand. With the Sony S-AIRPLAY, you can live a wire-free life, as this wireless, multi-room audio system makes it a snap to listen to your iPod in a different room without having to suffer complicated setup requirements. Wireless audio is transmitted via the S-AIRPLAY’s main docking station in one room to other rooms in the home, as long as they remain within a 160 foot range. All you need to do to listen to audio in another room is plug in a separate S-AIRPLAY wireless speaker into a power outlet and you’re good to go. |

Microsoft has taken the opportunity to announce the SideWinder X6 keyboard at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, adding yet another member to the venerable SideWinder line of gaming peripherals from the software giant. It seems as though Microsoft Hardware laid low for quite some time, and the SideWinder name has not exactly lighted up the gaming world for some time already, so hopefully the X6’s debut will change all that. This is touted to be the most versatile gaming keyboard on the market thanks to the pioneering switchable key pad which can be attached to either the left or right side of the keyboard, catering for both left- and right-handers. |

The Sony PSP has been around for quite a fair number of years already, and has always been playing second fiddle to the more successful Nintendo DS Lite despite looking as though it will crush all competition when it was first announced. I guess this proves yet again that software is king - after all, take a look at the original iPhone when it was released. Despite being inferior in many ways to other high end handsets in the market, the iPhone still did phenomenally well thanks to the user interface and software. Still, the Sony PSP is no slouch when it comes to portable gaming, and it is a very capable portable media player as well, although there are certain quarters who continue to gripe about its size. Sony has a third revision of their PSP, aptly known as the PSP-3000. |

Called Space/Time Fusion, the technique works by taking video footage that’s blurry or overexposed and substituting the digital information with that of a properly exposed and focused still shots of the same subject. The technique can also remove unwanted subjects or objects like they were never there. And all done automatically thanks to an algorithm in the Space Time Fusion software which analyzes both video and digital imagery and then marries them together at similar points.

Of course it has, isn’t everything sooner or later? From our friends at Yanko comes this digital composer interface which has the promise to bring out the John Williams in all of us. The concept, which has LiteOn as it’s benefactor, the idea couldn’t be simpler. Sing into the pen/mic, dock it and watch the notes get transcribed before your eyes as they’re played back. Think of it as Danny Elfman meets karaoke.

Having a sneaky way to keep fresh food around has always been an important goal for college students and geeks alike. Usually it’s done with mini fridges, mini microwaves and hot plates. Yet here’s another little gadget to throw on the list. This one is a toaster that is powered by your PC. It inserts directly into the drive bay and will fit a standard 5.25. It includes Windows based software interface which controls the temperature and how long the toast is in for.

You might remember a similar gadget which was released for the original iPhone. That’s old news. The new big boy in town is the iPhone 3G, so of course we’re all going to need a little update. While the iPhone 3G has been reported as having various networking snags, the new model continues to sell well. Even better than expected. So odds are that a nice chunk of you have upgraded.

Intel might have nearly taken over the whole world with their range of computer processors that pervade virtually every aspect of our lives, but that doesn’t mean they’re one mean corporate giant who doesn’t give two hoots about how the world’s environment is going to turn out. After all, they’d best preserve the world if they have their best interests at heart - assuming a huge amount of population gets wiped out due to some sort of global weather catastrophe, that would mean a huge chunk of their current and future customers performing a Houdini in an instant, which will definitely affect the company’s bottomline no matter which economic quarter they’re in then. Current computers will need to be fully turned on if they are to receive a phone call over the Internet, making these into impractical power guzzlers as a phone replacement, but Intel has just come up with a new component that allows a computer to go to sleep, “waking up” whenever there is an incoming call - a solution that helps save power and keep the earth green simultaneously, what’s there not to like. |

Just because you want to start traveling green, doesn’t necessarily mean you have to let the luxuries of your car drift into the horizon. One of main concerns about bike travel, other than safety and the lack of A/C, is the loss of a pounding sound system to bust out all of your hard rocking tunes. A bunch of teens from Queens, NYC have proved that sound doesn’t have to be sacrificed.
